Start with fixed-count mode and trim the range to the part of the clip that contains the important moment. A photo extracted from video can only contain the detail present in the decoded source frame. Fast shutter motion, camera shake, low light, heavy video compression, and a low recording resolution can all soften the result. Choose a nearby frame with less movement instead of expecting the image format or quality slider to recreate missing detail.
